Create a bowl of Peace and Solidarity in a workshop. Empty Bowls is an initiative of Martha Cashman, one of our wonderful Craft Fair artists, raising much needed funds for Medecins Sans Frontieres in Gaza. You can make your bowl at
the Festival in one of the two workshops running over the weekend. Martha will then take your bowl back to her workshop where she will glaze and fire it.
The cost of the workshop is €25 adults and €15 children. The purchase of a bowl is extra. You will be notified when your bowl is ready and go onto her website to purchase your bowl or someone else's. Every penny will be donated to
Medcine Sans Frontiers to help where it is needed most.
All money raised will be donated to Medicine Sans Frontiers in Gaza.
Join us at the Cork Empty Bowls Food Gathering for Palestine. This unique event is the next in a series by Empty Bowls, and the culmination of a huge community collaboration to bring this idea to fruition.
From our Empty Bowl workshops which crafted ceramic bowls, which will be used at the event, to the firing of the bowls, provision of food and labour, we are truly grateful to everyone involved for all their support.
Come along to St. Peter’s Church on North Main Street on Sunday 13 April 2024.
All Proceeds of this event go to Medicins Sans Frontieres in Gaza.
There will also be a Special Draw on the day with collectable art and sponsored spot prizes.
With this event we are supporting our SDG’s 2 and 16, No Food Poverty and Peace and Justice. Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by all United Nations members in 2015, created 17 world Sustainable Development Goals.
They were created with the aim of “peace and prosperity for people and the planet

Artists Statement
Martha Cashman
I have always been captivated by clay and grew up on a farm in East Cork where I was happiest walking on the open earth. I have been fascinated by colourful ceramic heirlooms in the home since childhood, little utilitarian pieces that would have been kept on the top shelf out of harm’s way, pottery is a reflection of our reality, our fantasies and a celebration of who we are. I work mainly in porcelain, it is an exceptionally sensitive material yet once fired its strength and durability is easily seen.
I am an arts facilitator and have a keen interest in environmental issues. I started my eco awareness and educational project over 7 years ago, I am a member of Cork Environmental Forum and Youghal’s Blue and Green Network. My workshops
generally have an eco theme where I focus on the importance of reuse and recycle, protecting our environment and creating useful ceramic items that we can continue to use for a life time.
I offer one day, intensive three day workshops and creative clay workshops to community groups , one on one and to families. I also work in the area of arts in health working with children, special needs and disability groups. Working
with clay is a very therapeutic way to slow down, connect to something deeper and find our inner creative being
